Activision Revives Popular Character for Black Ops 6 Marketing as Pope

-

With just weeks until Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 drops on October 25, Activision is turning up the hype.

Today, September 29, a new ad campaign kicked off, featuring Peter Stormare as The Replacer. This character steps in for people who take off work to dive into Call of Duty.

The Replacer first appeared in 2013 and has been a staple in the Black Ops ads. The latest commercial aired during Sunday’s NFL games, marking the return of this quirky figure.

There are nearly 30 more commercials planned to roll out before the game’s release. Activision hinted that some famous faces will be replaced by The Replacer but kept the details hush-hush.

In the newest ad, The Replacer does some wild stuff—saving a cat from a tree as a firefighter, driving a rideshare, and even sitting in for a dad at dinner, sparking a spicy chat with the mom. He even covers for the Pope for a day.

Black Ops 6 arrives on October 25, and this time there’s no early access to the campaign. Plus, it’s hitting Game Pass at launch, but only for the priciest tiers.
