Activision Secret Studio New IP Development Ramping Up

-

Activision’s new team, Elsewhere Entertainment, is hiring more people and seems to be growing into a new region.

Elsewhere is creating a fresh “narrative-based” franchise, but no other details are out yet. Interestingly, they are now looking for employees in Malmo, Sweden, a city where they didn’t have an office before. They were only in Warsaw, Poland, until now.

Malmo is famous for having other big game studios like Avalanche, Massive, and IO Interactive. They work on games like Just Cause, Star Wars Outlaws, and Hitman.

Elsewhere is recruiting for various roles, but the job ads don’t say much about the project. Seems like it’s still early days for this game, and there’s no info on when it will come out or which platforms it’ll be on, especially if it’ll be an Xbox exclusive because of Activision’s link with Microsoft.

Previously, we reported that GameSpot believes Elsewhere’s first game won’t be another Call of Duty title. It looks like they’ve been quietly working on it for a while.

Fans always get excited when there’s news about a new game.

Activision going for something new instead of another sequel is a big deal, especially since they’ve been all about Call of Duty lately. The team at Elsewhere includes people who’ve worked on big games like The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, The Division, and Far Cry.

Activision has taken risks on new IPs before, but the last original one was Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 2019. Before that, they published Bungie’s Destiny series until Bungie took it back and later joined Sony.

Elsewhere is the second Activision studio in Poland, along with Infinity Ward in Krakow. Activision’s US teams are also helping out with Elsewhere’s project.

Meanwhile, the Call of Duty series continues strong with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 coming this October. The second weekend of beta testing just ended, giving fans a sneak peek of the multiplayer action.
