Adorable Cloud Life Sim for Animal Crossing Fans

-

Ever wished for a game like Animal Crossing but with a twist?

Well, good news! A new game called Floatopia is being developed and it’s full of cute and fun things to do. Revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, this upcoming farming and life simulation game lets players live in the clouds with superpowers and features visuals similar to Animal Crossing. You can see some pictures of the game below.

Described as “a whimsical world filled with toys, travel, superpowers, and floating islands,” Floatopia is brought to us by NetEase. The developers have shared that the game will include activities like farming, fishing, logging, and decorating your home. You’ll also have magical powers and can customize your world. When you’re not busy at home, you can visit other islands that are inspired by different cultures. These islands will have places like mountaintop cities, ancient towns, deserts, frozen lands, fairy-tale kingdoms, and food paradises.

In their official press release, NetEase talked about the game’s themes:

“Imagine a world where superpowers are just a phone call away. In this fantastical realm, the most sought-after superpowers are quickly reserved, leaving only the seemingly ‘useless’ powers behind. You play a character who by a twist of fate joins forces with others possessing these overlooked superpowers.

“As the main storyline unfolds, you gradually uncover the truth of the world and the meaning of your travels—’usefulness’ is not the only measure of value. Every seemingly ‘useless’ ability has its own unique worth and hidden potential.”

If you preregister for the game, you’ll get a Special Island Gift Pack that includes a new costume and a seesaw. Floatopia will be available on PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025.

Sometimes we just need a fun escape from reality.
