Just days after Intel introduced its new desktop processors, AMD announced a new chip with 3D V-Cache technology in the 9000-series, claiming it’s the top gaming processor available.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D joins AMD’s lineup of 3D V-Cache CPUs, which are must-haves for serious gamers. This is the first to use AMD’s latest 3D V-Cache tech, and they say it’s about 8% quicker than the previous 7800X3D, which was known as the top gaming CPU. Interestingly, AMD also claims the 9800X3D outpaces Intel’s flagship Ultra 9 285K by around 20%, even though Intel’s chip just hit the market.
The 9800X3D boasts a base clock speed of 4.7 GHz and can boost up to 5.2 GHz, with a TDP of 120W. AMD hopes this will enhance its productivity, an area previous models have struggled with. It’s also the first X3D chip that supports overclocking, allowing tech enthusiasts to push it even further.
Sometimes, fans get really excited about new tech releases, don’t we?
Set to be available on November 7, the 9800X3D will cost $479. That’s $30 higher than the original price of the 7800X3D, which is often discounted below $400. Since both the 7000 and 9000 series work with the same motherboard chipset, buyers now have more options for upgrading their PCs.
