In an exciting announcement, Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive revealed they’re creating a huge new game set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
They’re teaming up with Avatar Studios, which Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko started in 2021 to help the Avatar story grow in different ways. This game, according to IGN, will be the biggest video game ever made for the franchise. Although not much is known yet, we do know it introduces a brand-new Avatar and takes place thousands of years before the events we know. Remember, this isn’t like the Avatar movies with blue aliens. It’s about a magical world where people can control water, earth, fire, and air.
In this universe, people called benders use cool martial arts to control the elements, but only the Avatar can master all four. The Avatar keeps everything balanced between the human world and the spirit world. Paramount and Saber promise that the game will have exciting battles, a colorful world, and a mix of new and old stories from the Avatar world.
“We know loyal fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been eager for more stories that bring them into the universe of the show, and through gaming, we’re able to expand the world-building and allow fans to experience the new content in a completely immersive way,” said Doug Rosen, SVP, Games and Emerging Media at Paramount, to IGN. “Saber Interactive has a proven track record in bringing IP-based games to life, and we are excited to co-fund this AAA title alongside them and let fans experience this world first-hand.”
Fans love when their favorite stories get bigger and better!
Avatar games have been around before, like the one based on The Legend of Korra, which was made by Platinum Games in 2014 and got mixed reviews. But this new project seems to be aiming even higher.
Lately, the Avatar world has been expanding in other ways too. There’s a live-action series on Netflix that’s already getting more seasons, and an animated movie called Aang: The Last Airbender is coming out in 2026 with the original cast. Plus, Avatar Studios is busy with a new animated series set after The Legend of Korra and other spin-off stories.
