Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Downloads Exceed 50 Million

-

In 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 by Larian turned into a massive success, snagging several Game of the Year awards like the one from GameSpot.

The game was already packed with a rich story, so it didn’t really need any mods, but that didn’t stop gamers from downloading them like crazy. “Together, you’ve downloaded more than 50 million mods since Patch 7 introduced modding support,” the game’s

shared. “Apparently 10,000 of those downloads were you renaming Withers to Bone Daddy. So, uh, glad we could facilitate that.”

When Patch 7 came out, it brought an official modding toolkit for Mac and console, and it quickly reached over 15 million downloads. By the start of October, players had already uploaded more than 1,000 mods. Larian even put out a fun animated short to announce it, showing some wild adventures.

Fans often come up with the coolest ideas!

Larian mentioned some rules for mods, saying only those made with their Toolkit and passing internal tests can be released on the console and Mac in-game mod browser. “Technical limitations on certain platforms mean that some PC mods will not be available for Mac or console. Our team will need to test all mods requested to be brought to these platforms to confirm whether they can be made available.”

For those wanting to try something new, the developer suggested mods like Adjustable Party Limit, which is pretty self-explanatory, and Faces of Faerun, which adds more character creation options.
