Baldur’s Gate 3 made a huge splash for Larian Studios, winning Game of the Year in 2023 and becoming a major financial hit.
The Irish Independent shared that Larian’s earnings reached $466 million in 2023, thanks to the game’s success, a massive leap from 2022’s figures. The game reportedly sold 15 million copies, helping Larian recover from a $223,000 loss the previous year.
Part of the charm lies in its endless replayability. Whether you’re customizing your own character, playing as companions, or diving into the Dark Urge storyline, the game offers countless adventures. Plus, multiplayer options like online play and split-screen co-op make it even more fun. With all this at just $70, no extra charges, it’s no wonder the game saw more players in 2024 than 2023.
We love how games can bring people together in unexpected ways.
Looking ahead, Larian’s CEO, Swen Vincke, mentions no immediate plans for Baldur’s Gate 4, but they’re cooking up something new. He hints it will be a surprise, bigger than Baldur’s Gate 3. “Hopefully nobody’s going to leak it for us, but it’s different than what you think it is,” he said, adding that it’ll still feel like a Larian creation.
