Black Myth Wukong Breaks Sales Records

-

Black Myth: Wukong came out on August 20 and sold 10 million copies by August 23.

It’s even beaten the sales of Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy in that short time,

. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also hit 10 million in three days.

“Thanks to all players worldwide for your support and love. Have a great gaming weekend!” the developers said. Right now, you can play it on PC and PS5, with Xbox Series X|S coming soon. So, expect sales to keep rising.

The game is now the second most popular game ever on Steam based on player count at one time, with over 2.4 million people playing at its peak. Only PUBG has more players at once (3.2 million).

A report showed that more than 88% of its sales on Steam came from China early on, where its developer Game Science is located. China has a gigantic gaming market, bigger than the entire population of the US.

Some people find Black Myth: Wukong controversial. Game Science asked content creators not to talk about “feminist propaganda” or COVID. An IGN report from 2023 mentioned allegations of sexist and misogynistic comments from the team.

Fans love discussing these things.
