Black Ops 6 Campaign Needs Internet, No Game Pass or PS Plus Required

-

Get ready for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, dropping on October 25, with some interesting news about the campaign mode.

All players, no matter which platform they’re on, will need to stay connected to the internet to enjoy any part of Black Ops 6, including the campaign. This was confirmed on an FAQ page discovered by

. Activision explained that this is to offer the best graphics and keep the game from hogging too much space on your hard drive.

The game’s new way of handling textures helps it stay small in size. By using a clever streaming technology, Black Ops 6 can store less-used content in a special online cache, which means you won’t have to download everything onto your device. Activision mentioned in August that they’ll keep adding more content to this cache.

While the internet is a must for playing, you won’t need a PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Core subscription to dive into the campaign. It’s pretty cool that they made this choice!

Set during the Gulf War in 1991, the campaign promises a thrilling tale of secrets and conspiracies. This time around, unlike Modern Warfare 3, there’s no early campaign access for those who splash out extra cash. “This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25th,” said Activision.

Fans who finish the campaign will snag some awesome rewards for multiplayer, Zombies, and other game modes. For all the juicy details on these goodies, check out GameSpot’s full list of Black Ops 6 campaign rewards.
