Blizzard Hiring for Open-World Shooter Game

-

Blizzard is on the lookout for someone special to join their team for a new open-world shooter game.

On November 13, they posted a job ad seeking an Associate Design Director, who will be the mastermind behind innovative strategies for this mysterious project. This role involves working closely with teams from engineering, art, and audio to bring the game from just an idea to reality. It sounds like they’re still in the early stages of making it.

The job listing, highlighted by VGC, mentions a salary starting at $124,400, possibly reaching up to $230,300. This week, journalist Jason Schreier’s book, “Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment,” hinted at a StarCraft shooter being in the works at Blizzard, but it’s unclear if this job is for that project.

Dan Hay, who used to work on Far Cry at Ubisoft, is rumored to be leading the StarCraft shooter. Fans sometimes feel like they are on a rollercoaster with Blizzard’s projects.

Blizzard is known for canceling around half of the games they start, so even though this shooter is being developed, it might not see the light of day. Earlier this year, Microsoft said Blizzard canceled a survival game called Odyssey, with some team members shifting to a project thought to be a StarCraft shooter.
