Activision’s Ricochet software accidentally banned some honest players in the Call of Duty world, but they’ve fixed it now.
Players found a sneaky way to trick the system in Modern Warfare III and Warzone, causing innocent folks to get banned. Activision admitted the mistake, noting only a “small number” were affected, and they’ve reversed the bans for those players.
The company explained that crafty individuals exploited Ricochet, targeting genuine players who did nothing wrong. They promised to inspect their systems to avoid such issues again.
While Activision battles cheaters using AI and other tools, they acknowledge it’s tough to eliminate them entirely. Cheaters always find a way to disrupt the game, so it’s an ongoing fight.

BobbyPoff, a well-known Call of Duty streamer, was wrongfully banned due to this glitch. He expressed his frustration, saying he got no apology from Activision: “Imagine having your name drug through the mud for two weeks for something you never did and being offered zero explanation. Oh wait that was ME the past two weeks!!!” he shared.
Fans wonder why this keeps happening, even with all the tech available.
Keep your eyes peeled, as Activision is set to reveal more about Ricochet’s updates for Black Ops 6 on October 18. Stay tuned for details on the new UI and preload features!
