October 25 marks the worldwide release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Treyarch has spilled the beans on what’s new since the beta, including tweaks to weapons and maps.
The game packs a punch with its campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes. While some lucky players in New Zealand have snagged early access thanks to their timezone, the official launch is set for tomorrow. Treyarch has cleverly locked all the Easter eggs and main story quests for the Zombies maps until 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST on October 25, ensuring everyone gets a fair shot at discovering them without spoilers.
For those diving into multiplayer, there’s a fresh twist with aim assist. Originally disabled for close-range in the beta, it’s now back but slightly weaker, offering a smoother experience.
Weapons got some love too, with faster pistol and melee-swap speeds and a quicker weapon-butt attack. There’s also been a little tweak to how weapons move, making aiming down sights a bit more precise.
Map lovers will notice some adjustments on Skyline, Scud, and Rewind. For example, that tricky head-glitch on Scud’s satellite dish? It now allows bullet penetration, balancing the playing field. Skyline and Rewind also received some extra cover to shake things up.
Audio nerds rejoice! The new HRTF audio feature is here, enhancing the headphone experience for free. Plus, you can now turn off licensed music, perfect for streamers.
Fans always appreciate when a game evolves based on feedback and player data.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. PC players can find hardware requirements here.

Weapon Balance
Since the Beta, we’ve made many changes to weapon balance, but consider the launch just the beginning. We’ll keep fine-tuning based on player feedback and data.
- Previously, aim assist was disabled at close ranges in the Beta, but it was a bit abrupt. We’ve smoothed it out, so it starts weaker at point-blank and increases gradually.
- Pistol and Melee swap speeds are faster now.
- Weapon Butt melee attacks are a tad quicker.
- Adjusted sway, bob, and weapon motions for better aim down sights (ADS).
- More improvements coming in Season 01.
- Improved Depth of Field for all weapons.
Movement
- Toggle option for Corner Slicing added.
- Set hold time for Dive to Prone or Slide based on your settings.
- Intelligent Movement option for Mantle Assist Angle: tight, medium, or wide.
Multiplayer Map Adjustments
Thanks to player feedback, we’ve made some changes to our Beta maps. Our goal is fair and consistent gameplay, so expect more cover and lighting adjustments.
Skyline
- Expanded cover around the hot tub at the center.
- New planters added near far spawn point.
- Multiple cover options throughout the map.
Scud
- Bullet penetration values adjusted on satellite dish panels.
- Main overwatch wall now broken out for better bullet penetration.
- Doubled panels at side overwatch for slight penetration.
- More cover improvements across the map.
Rewind
- Cover improvements across multiple sightlines.
Audio
- Excited to introduce HRTF (Head-Related Transfer Function) via Universal Profile in Enhanced Headphone Mode, free for all players.
- Setting added to disable licensed music across all modes, great for streamers.
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat systems are active in Black Ops 6, with upgrades like:
- Kernel-Level Driver (PC) updates across all protected titles, including Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
- #TeamRICOCHET mitigations live in multiplayer, such as Damage Shield and Disarm.
- Machine-learning systems to detect and combat aim bots.

Adjustments for Future Weapon Damage Patch Notes
Understanding weapon damage is key in Call of Duty. We’ve revamped our patch notes to make it clearer.
- New Weapon Damage Adjustment table for Black Ops 6 and Warzone: Season 01 patch notes.
- Defined Weapon Damage Range definitions for both titles.
Weapon Damage Adjustment Table
New table highlights weapon changes from one patch to the next. It includes Damage Range, Pre-Patch, and Post-Patch columns, showing values in meters.
Positive (⇧) and negative (⇩) adjustments are marked with arrows like in-game.
Weapon Damage Range Explainer
Not all weapons are equal, but the closer your target, the more damage you deal. Here’s how damage works in Multiplayer and Warzone:
Maximum Damage Range
- Outlines the max damage a weapon can do in one shot up to a certain distance.
- Starts at 0 meters and extends until outside of Maximum Damage Range.
Medium and Minimum Damage Ranges
- After Maximum Damage Range ends, damage steps down over distance.
- Some weapons have up to three Medium Damage Ranges, while others have none.
- In future tables, Medium Damage Ranges will be labeled 1, 2, and 3.
- Identifies the least damage a player can receive at the furthest distances.
- Starts after the last Medium Damage Range and continues indefinitely unless noted.
As we move through future Seasons, Treyarch and Raven will tweak weapons based on feedback and data to ensure the best Multiplayer and Warzone experiences. These changes might mean different Damage Range values for Black Ops 6 weapons across titles.
Stay tuned for updates and look out for Warzone Patch Notes from Raven starting in Season 01.
