Concord’s Future Uncertain as Director Steps Down

-

Ryan Ellis, the director at Concord, has left his position at Firewalk Studios for a support role.

According to Kotaku, Sony hasn’t decided on Concord’s future. While some developers at Firewalk are worried the game won’t come back after being offline, others have been asked to brainstorm new project ideas. A few believe Firewalk might become a support studio for other Sony projects.

Meanwhile, there are fears of big layoffs or even a total shutdown because Firewalk is one of PlayStation’s costly studios. Some employees are already updating their portfolios or have left, while those staying are curious about potential severance packages if layoffs happen.

Concord launched on August 23 for PS5 and PC, but it was taken offline on September 6 due to low player numbers and poor sales. Despite this, it will feature in Amazon’s new video game TV show. Those who bought the game got refunds after it was removed from their accounts.
