Fans of DayZ, the zombie game, are upset over a new add-on from Bohemia Interactive, saying it’s too costly and lacks excitement.
On Twitter, Marek Spanel shared, “Did you know that 8 million users for whom we have data on Steam played for an average of 188 hours and paid an average of 30 USD gross in Dayz?” He explained they earn less than 10 cents per hour of online play, which they’ve maintained for over a decade. Yet, the Frostline add-on is being criticized as overpriced at $26.99 for just a map. Some players even want more for less money. Hmm. Please Please Me.”

Frostline, out since October, costs $27, a price fans argue doesn’t match what’s offered. Currently, it holds a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam, with many pointing out its shortcomings. The key issue is a lack of new, exciting stuff.
“First things first: This is not even an original map,” said one player. “This $37 CAD DLC map is a cut-down reskin of the ArmA III map ‘Tanoa.’ That being said, Sakhal does have some neat stuff to it, but it is absolutely not worth its asking price as of right now. Maybe in time they’ll add more interesting features to the map to justify its existence, but right now you can get much better maps for free, and Bohemia knows it.”
Another gamer added, “This is an extremely lazy effort from Bohemia Interactive,” noting that old bugs are still there, and the long-awaited ‘AI overhaul’ is delayed again. Instead, there’s a snowy Tanoa with fewer places to explore, and many islands are just empty. Joy.”
Some folks mention that cool places like the Weather Dome and Volcano on the new map can’t be explored or used. Other maps with loads more content have been released for free by fans.
Sometimes, we just want more fun without spending too much.
Bohemia Interactive, apart from Spanel’s musical tweet, hasn’t said anything else about the uproar.
