The Diablo 4 update, Vessel of Hatred, was supposed to be available at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET, but it hit a snag and is now delayed.
On the Blizzard forums, Adam Fletcher, who talks to the community, explained they found a “small technical issue” that needs fixing so everyone can play at the same time, no matter what they’re using. He also mentioned that the plan is to have the servers back up later tonight.
“We apologize for the late breaking news on the time shift, but this is an important step we need to make to ensure every player can start their journey through Nahantu together,” Fletcher said.
When asked how long we’d have to wait, Fletcher, in a
, guessed it might only take “just a couple hours at most, but we shall see.”
Blizzard plans to stop new logins to Diablo 4 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET, and those already playing might get disconnected as they ready the game for the expansion.
Vessel of Hatred is bringing lots of cool stuff to Diablo 4. There’s a new adventure featuring Mephisto, Runewords like in Diablo 2, Mercenaries you can team up with, and a fresh class called the Spiritborn. Update 2.0 is also coming with it, changing how hard the game is to make it more like Diablo 3, but you won’t need the expansion for that.
Fans sometimes have to wait a bit longer, but it’s usually worth it in the end.
Alessandro Barbosa, in a review on GameSpot, called the new expansion “a great reentry point for lapsed Diablo 4 players” and said it makes the game feel exciting again.
