Diablo Immortal Adds Lich King Boss for WoW 20th Anniversary

-

Diablo Immortal is throwing a huge party for World of Warcraft’s 20th birthday with loads of cool stuff to do, including battling the Lich King and checking out new skins and battlegrounds.

From November 13 to December 11, players in Blizzard’s mobile game can face off against Arthas, the Lich King, who’s been a big name in Warcraft for decades. He’s bringing his usual tricks like calling up ghouls and abominations to fight for him.

But you can’t just stroll in and challenge the Lich King anytime. You’ll need special items called Fallen Citadel Gates to get to his icy throne. These gates can be found by finishing dungeons, logging in to the game, or as a rare loot drop from monsters during the event.

Taking down the Lich King isn’t the only fun thing happening. Players can grab new weapon looks based on WoW’s legendary gear by leveling up in the event pass. This includes epic weapons like Thunderfury, Shadowmourne, Gorehowl, and Atiesh. If you missed the Frostmourne skin last time, you get another shot at it now.

There’s also a fresh PvP area called Cutthroat Basin starting on November 13. It’s inspired by WoW’s Arathi Basin, with places to capture like the lumber mill, blacksmith, and stables. To keep it fair, everyone’s level, items, and gems are balanced out. Plus, you can find special skill orbs that let you use WoW moves like Blessing of Kings, Stealth, Eagle Eye, and Blink.

Some new looks are free, but others will cost you. Murloc skins for your Diablo Immortal pets can be earned without spending money, but Illidan-themed wings and other cosmetics come from the Phantom Market, a gacha-style feature where you get one free try when you log in during the event. You can also buy two versions of WoW’s famous Ashbringer sword from the in-game store, but there’s no free way to get this legendary Paladin weapon.

For WoW players, there’s a special back cosmetic called Treasure Nabbin’ Bag up for grabs. All you need to do is log into Diablo Immortal with a character level 10 or higher using the same Battle.net account as your WoW account to earn it in WoW. For all the juicy details, head over to Blizzard’s blog.

Over the past few months, Blizzard has been marking WoW’s 20th year with themed skins in both Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. Right now, there’s a huge anniversary event in WoW leading up to its big day on November 23, where players can earn revamped versions of the game’s classic tier-2 gear sets.
