Disco Elysium Devs Launch New Studio for RPG Successor

-

A bunch of developers have come together to create Longdue Games and are working on a brand-new game inspired by the canceled sequel to Disco Elysium.

This team, made up of around twelve people, includes some who worked on Disco Elysium or were supposed to work on its follow-up before plans fell through. Issues between ZA/UM, Robert Kurvitz, and Aleksander Rostov led to the cancellation, so the new game is a “spiritual successor” but without their involvement. You can read more about the legal disputes here.

The first game by Longdue is crafted with key talents from the original Disco Elysium team, maintaining the same story-focused approach that fans loved. They aim to create an experience where the mind and surroundings are deeply connected, letting players’ decisions change the world and its people.

Following in Disco Elysium’s footsteps, the new game is an RPG filled with deep psychological themes and player choices. It was no accident that Longdue shared this news on the fifth birthday of Disco Elysium’s release.

“Announced on the fifth anniversary of Disco Elysium, Longdue’s first project honors the cRPG canon while establishing itself as a steady and dependable voice in the future of isometric RPG design,” Longdue said in the press release.

Longdue describes their upcoming title as an RPG with a focus on the relationship between what we see and what we feel inside. Players will face tough decisions, and those choices will impact both their character’s mind and the game world, creating a dynamic and ever-changing journey.

With the “psychogeographic RPG mechanic,” every decision you make changes the world and its characters, blurring the lines between the mind and environment.

“In this experience, the lines between the mind and the environment blur, colliding and transforming with each choice, leading players through an ever-evolving narrative landscape.”

Not much else is known about this mysterious RPG yet, including its name. However, you can keep an eye on Longdue Games’ official website for updates as they continue working on it.
