So, Capcom’s still at it, huh? Just two months shy of the big release, and they’re dropping new content for Dragon’s Dogma 2 like it’s hot. At the latest State of Play, they unveiled this new Warfarer class. Plus, they’re teasing us with dragonsplague and Vocational Mastery concepts. Sounds intriguing, right?
Vocations, if you’re not in the know, are basically Dragon’s Dogma’s fancy term for classes. And this Vocational Mastery thing? It’s a game-changer. You get to buddy up with vocation maisters to unlock specific Vocations or snag some high-level skills from them. Fancy, huh?
Now, the Warfarer Vocation is something else. It’s just for you, the player-character. What’s cool about it is the flexibility it offers. You can switch between an array of weapons and pick up skills from different vocation maisters. Plus, it lets you whip up custom combos using skills from more than one Vocation. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
Oh, and about the video stuff – you’ll need a browser that’s up to snuff for HTML5 videos. And yeah, there’s some hoopla about invalid file formats and access restrictions. You know the drill, enter your date of birth and all that jazz to watch the video. They’ve got their rules and policies in place, after all.
“Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Action Gameplay Trailer” is what’s playing now. It’s a peek into the game’s freedom to customize how you play. The latest trailer shows off attacking with everything from standard swords to long-range magic. The Warfarer ups the ante, letting players mix and match weapons. But, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The Warfarer’s got lower base stats, so it doesn’t overshadow the other Vocations with their specialized strengths.
Then there’s this dragonsplague thing. It’s a “contagious disease-like condition” that messes with your Pawns (those are your party members, by the way). But here’s the kicker: instead of weakening them, dragonsplague makes them stronger and bolder. Weird, right? There’s a buzz that hitting the terminal stage of dragonsplague could spell “devastating calamity,” but the official word’s still out on that.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is hitting the scene 12 years after the original game, which kinda turned into a cult classic after its 2012 debut. Capcom tried their hand at an MMORPG with Dragon’s Dogma Online in 2015, but they had to shut it down in 2019 due to a dwindling player base. It was a Japan-only thing, which maybe wasn’t the best move. Here’s hoping Dragon’s Dogma 2 can make a splash worldwide.
You can catch GameSpot’s preview of Dragon’s Dogma 2 from the Tokyo Game Show. Haven’t preordered yet? There’s still time to snag one with a free SteelBook case. Mark your calendars for March 22, 2024, when Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
