Disney recently unveiled a treasure trove of fresh content for Dreamlight Valley, their popular life-simulation adventure game.
In an exciting 23-minute showcase, community managers Rachel Annen and Ryan Blanchard revealed a free update, Sew Delightful, set to arrive on December 4, which is bursting with new features. They also discussed the six updates already released and the paid expansion, A Rift In Time, highlighting improvements focused on making the game even more enjoyable. Oh, and they dropped a code for free in-game socks—stay tuned for more on that!
The previous addition of Jack Skellington is getting a festive twist as Sally joins the game. She’ll bring her unique style with new furniture, clothes, and customization options. Players will need to help Jack locate Sally, who is lost outside the Valley, and solve some spooky mysteries together. Once Sally’s settled in, there’ll be quilting, premonitions, and even a romantic night with Jack to plan. As part of Sally’s Friendship Rewards, players will unlock lots of patchwork items fitting her spooky-cute vibe.
“Well, inspired by [Sally’s] sense of style, you can expect tons of patterns across clothing items and furniture,” said game manager Guillame Sauveur, highlighting that the update “Just screams ‘Sally!'”
Fans are excited about these new additions and can’t wait to dive into the adventures.
Courtney, discussing the update’s Star Path, mentioned, “This winter, we’ll be embracing the ethereal sides of the [holiday] season.” Players can expect fairy-tale experiences with ice-adorned furniture and whimsical wand effects. The Sew Delightful update also introduces Floating Islands, magical areas where creativity can run wild. Each biome gets its own Floating Island, starting with Plaza Island, Forest Island, Sunlit Island, and Frosted Island.
These islands, purchasable with Dreamlight, offer twice the space for decoration. Players can even visit each other’s islands during Valley Visits. “Ultimately, the goal is to offer ample space to create without [the Floating Islands] feeling overwhelming,” Sauveur stated, with more details on island sizes coming closer to launch.
A feature players long requested is finally here: the ability to rotate items in 16 directions, making decorating much easier. Besides the Sew Delightful update, the showcase revealed future updates with themes like Aladdin and Jasmine, Alice in Wonderland, and a mysterious adventure at Skull Rock.
An exciting new expansion, Storybook Vale (Part 1), is also on the horizon. Players will navigate a world twisted by Maleficent and Hades, solving puzzles to restore peace. “Expansion passes let us recapture the feeling that we gave players the first time they stepped into the Valley,” explained creative director Josh Labelle. Unlike A Rift In Time, Storybook Vale unfolds in two parts, with the first part launching on November 20.
Purchasing Part 1 grants access to the second part when it releases next summer. Available for $30 USD, the expansion offers new collectibles, including harvestable lightning strikes. Players can also buy the Dreamlight Valley Enchanted Edition bundle, which includes the base game, A Rift In Time, and The Storybook Vale for $80 USD. Those who play The Storybook Vale by November 30 receive a free Keeper Of Lore outfit.
