EA Explores Battlefield TV Show or Movie

-

It’s been 24 years since EA introduced Battlefield with a World War II game.

Now, the buzz is about the next Battlefield game, which will be set in modern times. But could we see Battlefield on the big screen one day? Vince Zampella from Respawn Entertainment thinks there’s a chance, though it might not be EA or Respawn making it happen.

“There are definitely opportunities there,” Zampella told IGN. “We’ve had some discussions, but it’s not our core business. To me, that stuff, when it works, it’s super cool… Like Arcane was f**king great. But there’s other ones that haven’t worked as well and I won’t name those, but you know what they are… I would love to see it. Right now, we’re not looking at anything like that for Battlefield.”

Even though there’s no Battlefield movie or show in the pipeline now, it wasn’t always this way. In 2016, Paramount Television and Anonymous Content planned to make a Battlefield TV show. Before that, in 2012, Fox had an idea for a Battlefield: Bad Company action-comedy series.

The tricky part of making a Battlefield show or movie is making it different from all the other war stories out there. Fans might think adapting Battlefield 2042 or Battlefield 2142 would be cool because future wars are less common in movies and shows. But for now, EA and Respawn don’t seem to be rushing into it.

We think it would be awesome to see a Battlefield movie or show.

For now, let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait to see if anything changes.
