From Software has shared that Elden Ring: Nightreign won’t support cross-play.
In a chat with IGN, Junya Ishizaki, the director, explained, “Similar to the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but not cross-platform play. So PS4 players can play with PS5 players, and Xbox One players can play with Xbox Series S and X players, but not between platforms.”
Even though the game is all about multiplayer and teamwork, it’s kind of a letdown that different systems can’t play together. Elden Ring was the same way, letting only PlayStation or Xbox friends help each other.
Nightreign is an action-packed co-op game in the Elden Ring world, but it’s not a “live-service game,” according to From Software. They want players to get everything they need right away, with no extra purchases needed, and all features can be unlocked just by playing. The game is expected to come out in 2025 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
We really think games should let everyone play together, no matter the console.
Announced during The Game Awards 2024, Nightreign got a lot of buzz, while Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was up for many awards, like Game of the Year, but didn’t grab any wins.
