Epic Games Files Lawsuit Against Fortnite Tournament Cheater

-

Epic Games is taking a Fortnite player to court for cheating in a competition.

The company claims Sebastian Araujo used unfair software tricks in several tournaments. Allegedly, he employed cheats like aimbots and wallhacks, which let him see through walls and hit targets with ease, helping him win lots of prize money. “Araujo pocketed thousands of dollars that other competitors in the tournaments–who played by the rules–had no real chance to win,” the complaint states.

Brent Coyle from Epic says they want everyone to have a good time in Fortnite competitions, so they are changing things to stop cheating, including suing those who break the rules. Read more here.

Fans always hope for fair play in games so everyone has a fair shot at winning.

Epic has tackled cheaters before. For instance, they won against an Australian cheater in 2022 and gave the settlement money to charity, which was a nice gesture. If Araujo loses, he might face consequences like those other players who had to pay huge sums or got permanently banned.
