4J Studios has unveiled the first sneak peek of their new open-world game, Reforj, which they’re creating after their work on Minecraft.
In Reforj, you might notice some similarities if you’re familiar with Minecraft, but there are cool new twists. For instance, your character can glide around, even inside dungeons, making exploration faster and more exciting. You can choose to glide using either a first-person or third-person view.

Gathering resources in Reforj comes with its own unique spin. You can change the shapes of objects from afar while building, and collecting items is a breeze. Imagine taking down a whole tree just by chopping one block at the bottom or clearing three blocks in one move! Interestingly, you won’t see any specific tools while doing these tasks.
Reforj was officially announced by 4J Studios in September for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Their Elements Engine, which powers the game, was first shown off on May 22. They’ve got a team of about 50 people, not all working on Reforj yet, including Joseph Garrett, better known as Stampy from YouTube.
Fans can’t help but feel a bit excited about something fresh in the gaming world.
4J Studios wants to make it clear that Reforj isn’t meant to be Minecraft 2. As Chris van der Kuyl, the founder of 4J, explained, “Everyone has to have a frame of reference,” but this will be a totally different experience. Even though people will still enjoy their usual games, Reforj offers something brand new for fans of the genre who haven’t seen anything fresh in a while.
