Epic Games recently shared some exciting news about Fortnite, announcing a new first-person mode called Fortnite Ballistic.
This morning, players got their first taste of Fortnite Ballistic, but the excitement quickly turned into frustration as matchmaking troubles arose, likely from too many players trying to join at once. Once things are up and running smoothly, gamers can jump into intense 5v5 battles where one team attacks and the other defends. The attackers aim to set off a bomb known as the Rift Point Device, while defenders do everything they can to stop it. If the bomb goes off, the attackers win. No one can come back to life during a round, so when you’re out, you wait until the next round starts. If an entire team is taken out, the round ends even if the bomb wasn’t used. After six rounds, teams switch roles, and the first to win seven rounds claims victory. There’s both ranked and unranked play to choose from.
For now, players can only explore the Skyline 10 map in Fortnite Ballistic, with more maps promised soon. While you can’t use pickaxes, contrails, or vehicles here, players still have cool gadgets like proximity mines, bubble shields, recon grenades, frag grenades, and impulse grenades at their disposal. Later this week, Epic will unveil Lego Fortnite Brick Life, a fun new open-world social-sim expansion. Plus, OG Fortnite made a comeback earlier this month and is here to stay. In other news, Epic Games is issuing the first round of FTC-mandated settlement checks due to Fortnite’s tricky button setup that made accidental purchases way too easy. Those who played before 2022 can still file settlement claims on the FTC website.
Sometimes, fans just want things to work without any hiccups.
