Microsoft revealed a fresh multiplayer mode for Forza Horizon 5 at Gamescom called Hide & Seek.
The game involves one player, the Hider, racing to a specific spot before time runs out, while the Seekers try to catch them. Both teams have a selection of vehicles to use. There is also a unique progression system in this mode that lets players earn badges and achievements as they play.
Hiders can select from these cars:
- 2012 Jeep Wrangler
- 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
- 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
- 2018 Mercedes X Class
Seekers have these options:
- 2016 BMW M4 GTS
- 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
- 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG
- 2015 Audi RS6
- 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X GSR
- 2021 Ford Bronco
The gameplay is divided into two stages, each lasting four minutes. During the first stage, the Hider attempts to stay hidden while Seekers try to fill up their “Detection Meter.” In the second stage, an End Zone randomly appears on the map. The Seekers then have another four minutes to find and catch the Hider before they reach this zone.
A cool feature of this mode is special power-ups. Seekers get a radar that points them towards the Hider’s general area, and they can use a “Ping” ability to pinpoint the Hider’s exact spot on the map for 20 seconds.
The Hider has an ability called Chase Breaker, which disables the Seekers’ radar and ping for 20 seconds. This ability also makes the Hider’s car invisible to Seekers and lets it drive through any breakable object in the game.
We can’t wait to see how creative people get with these abilities.
The Hide & Seek mode will be available starting September 10. You can access it by visiting a new location on the map or through Forza Horizon 5’s Online page in the main menu.
