HoYoverse has launched the Genshin Impact 5.1 update called “The Rainbow Destined to Burn,” and it’s ready for players to dive into.
Amid the changes, there’s a heads-up for gamers about the absence of some English voice-overs. In the patch notes, it states: “Due to recording arrangements, some content in Version 5.1 does not have English voice-overs.” They add, “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.” According to IGN, this might be because of the ongoing strike by video game voice actors linked with SAG-AFTRA.
But there’s no solid proof yet that the strike is why the voices are missing. Earlier, SAG-AFTRA gave a thumbs-up to AI voice acting in games, and they accused Formosa Interactive of breaking labor laws by allegedly trying to dodge the strike.
We can’t wait to see how this unfolds.
Genshin Impact 5.1 is live now. And for Xbox fans feeling left out, HoYoverse revealed at Gamescom 2024 that the game is coming to Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass on November 20, 2024.
