Gigantic Rampage Edition: Indie MOBA Returns After 5-Year Hiatus

-

Oh boy, here we go again. Remember Gigantic? That MOBA that had us all hooked back in 2017? Yeah, the one by Motiga. It only lasted a year, though. Servers went dark quicker than my mood on a Monday morning. But guess what? It’s making a comeback. New devs, new ideas. Gearbox Publishing and Abstraction Games are on it this time. They’re calling it Gigantic: Rampage Edition. Mark your calendars for April 9, folks. It’s hitting consoles and PC.

So, what’s the deal with Rampage Edition? Well, it’s keeping the classic five-on-five MOBA vibes we loved. Plus, all the original content is making a return. But here’s the kicker: they’re shaking things up a bit. The devs are pretty determined not to let history repeat itself. They’ve got some tricks up their sleeves, for sure.

Oh, and there’s a trailer. Gigantic: Rampage Edition Announcement Trailer, to be exact. Size matters, apparently: 640 × 360, 480 × 270. But hey, make sure your browser’s up to snuff. HTML5 video capable, or you’re out of luck. And yeah, there’s the whole “invalid file format” drama. Can’t view the content? Too bad. They’re asking for your DOB too. Privacy policy and terms of use and all that jazz. You know the drill.

Now, onto the juicy bits. Gigantic isn’t free-to-play this time around. Nope. It’s going premium. Twenty bucks and it’s all yours. Post-launch, they’re planning to roll out free updates. Think ranked mode, new hero skins. The good stuff.

Remember Clash? That main game mode from the original? It’s back. And it’s bringing the same strategic 5v5 gameplay we all missed. But wait, there’s more. A new mode called Rush is in the mix. It’s like Clash but condensed into a wild, 10-minute match. Fast and frenetic, just how we like it.

Characters? All 23 from the previous game are returning. And guess what? There are two newbies joining the fray. Roland, the warrior with a gun for an arm, and Kajir, the agile feline. They’re fresh faces in the Rampage Edition’s lineup. Customization’s a big deal now, too. Hero/weapon skins, ability loadouts—you name it.

Maps are making a comeback as well. Every single one from the previous game, plus two new arenas. Picaro Bay’s got a massive pirate ship. Heaven’s Ward? It’s all industrial-themed. Warehouses, factories, a power plant. Perfect for strategizing.

Gigantic first hit the scene in July 2017. It was a long wait—three years since the announcement. But by January 2018, the devs were like, “No more content, folks.” And then, poof. Servers off by July 31, 2018. But here we are, gearing up for a revival.

Gigantic: Rampage Edition. April 9. Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Nineteen ninety-nine. Crossplay’s a thing, right from the start. So, who’s ready to dive back in?
