Steam users are once again unhappy because they need a PSN account to play a PlayStation game on PC.
This time, it’s God of War Ragnarok that’s getting review-bombed for the log-in requirement. The action-adventure game has received a lot of negative feedback on its Steam page because of the PSN account demand, according to PC Gamer. One user sarcastically wrote, “I love having to sign in to PSN to play a single-player game. I’m glad you didn’t learn a single thing from what happened with Helldivers 2.” Check out the full review here.
Earlier this year, Sony removed the mandatory PSN sign-in for Helldivers 2 after players complained on Steam. But that situation was different since the log-in requirement was added after the game launched. God of War Ragnarok just came out on PC, and Sony had already stated a PSN account was necessary when the game was announced for Steam. (Side note: Here are the PC specs for God of War Ragnarok.)
Sony plans to bring more games to PC, and they will all need a PSN account. Besides God of War Ragnarok, the remake of Until Dawn will also need a PSN log-in for both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
When playing God of War Ragnarok on PC, companions in the game are less annoying. Also, the PC version has unlocked frame rates and supports ultra-widescreen monitors.
Sometimes, we just want to play without extra steps.
Looking ahead, Sony Santa Monica is reportedly working on a new project that’s not related to God of War. But, nothing official has been revealed by Sony yet about what it could be. For more details, check out GameSpot’s God of War Ragnarok review.
