Red Dead Redemption II had its trailers spaced out by 343 days, from October 20, 2016, to September 28, 2017. Meanwhile, GTA VI’s first glimpse was on December 4, 2023, and we’re still waiting for the sequel.
As of December 20, we’ve been waiting 381 days for GTA VI’s next trailer, setting a record for the longest anticipation period for a Rockstar Games release in over ten years. In the meantime, fans are clinging to any rumors or hints about the next trailer’s arrival, but nothing concrete has surfaced yet. Strauss Zelnick, the big boss at Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, acknowledged fans’ impatience but emphasized that the game won’t be released until it’s perfect.
Rockstar often unveils new game content around the holidays, just like they did with new GTA V screens on Christmas Eve in 2012. Yet, there’s no indication that anything fresh for GTA VI will come out before the end of 2024.
GTA VI is slated to hit the shelves in Fall 2025, a timeline Take-Two has repeatedly confirmed. But let’s not forget, every Rockstar game in the last decade has faced delays past their initial release dates. This time, players will journey back to Vice City, a fictional Miami, for the first time since 2002’s GTA: Vice City. The storyline might revolve around two main characters, potentially echoing a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired tale of two robbers.
