There’s some drama going on with the latest patch for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition.
The CEO of the company that helped remake the games, Thomas Williamson, is pretty upset because they took his team’s logo, Grove Street Games, off the game’s intro screen. He said, “It’s a dick move…” in a hypothetical way, but you can tell he’s not happy.
VGC caught this and shared it, and Williamson also talked about it
, suggesting that Grove Street Games had already sent out fixes for the console version ages ago. “Speaking entire[ly] hypothetically: It’s a dick move to remove primary developers from credits in an update, especially when an update includes hundreds of fixes that were provided by those developers that stayed out of players’ hands for years,” he expressed.

Although Grove Street Games isn’t on the splash screen, they still appear in the end credits after the patch. Rockstar Games didn’t say much about the update, just mentioned there are “numerous fixes and improvements” and that they’re bringing back the old lighting style. When the game came out in 2021, people weren’t happy because of the weird graphics and lots of bugs.
Earlier this week, Williamson also shared
a thread that talked about good changes in the trilogy. Besides GTA, Grove Street has worked on Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition for Switch and Ark: Survival Ascended for PC, PS5, and Xbox.
This isn’t the first time the trilogy got a big update; back in February 2022, they fixed over 100 bugs.
Fans sometimes feel like things should be simpler.
Looking ahead, everyone’s excited for Grand Theft Auto VI, which should be out in Fall 2025. Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, doesn’t seem worried about it running on Xbox Series S. However, Digital Foundry once mentioned that GTA VI might not get as much of a boost from the PS5 Pro as some folks hope.
