Hades 2 Update: New Weapon, Region, & Familiars

-

The first big update for Hades 2 has just been launched by Supergiant Games, and it’s packed with loads of cool new stuff.

This update, known as the Olympic Update, not only fine-tunes the gameplay but also introduces a fresh area to explore, a shiny new weapon to wield, new faces to meet, and delightful animal pals to make. Plus, there’s more art and music to enjoy, making the game even richer during its early access phase. Without giving away too much, the new location takes you to the highest point in the Hades 2 universe, and the final Nocturnal Arm can now be unlocked for Melinoe. Mastering this weapon might be tricky, as it requires quick reflexes, allowing players to block and strike back with fierce moves.

Weapons have undergone some exciting changes too. The Witch’s Staff has a revamped special attack, the Moonstone Axe trades its block for a mighty upward slash, and the Umbral Flames’ projectiles spin based on your movements. These updates make weapons in the game more formidable than ever. Oh, and don’t forget about the Dash ability—it’s now quicker and more responsive, helping players dodge attacks better. While Supergiant is keeping details of the new region under wraps, they did say it’s a fully fleshed-out area with different spots to check out. Other regions are getting new places too, and you’ll find a Pool of Purging before entering Tartarus. Fishing spots have become more accessible, alongside various location fixes.

Fans often feel like they’re on an epic journey with each update, discovering new and exciting things.

To dive into all the details without hitting any spoilers, you can check out the full update notes. Though Hades 2 is still in its early stages, it already seems like a complete game. Alessandro Barbosa shared in GameSpot’s review-in-progress, “Hades II is an ambitious expansion of all the ideas that came before it, balancing them beautifully to create one of the best roguelites on the market even in its incomplete state.” As of now, Hades 2 is priced at $30 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, but be aware that the cost might go up once it’s fully released.
