Arrowhead, the developer behind Helldivers 2, just dropped a massive update that changes almost everything in the game.
In their Steam patch notes, Arrowhead mentioned they want the game to stay intense but not too annoying. They’re on a 60-day mission to improve Helldivers 2 and make sure players feel stronger when landing on new planets. “Our intent is to preserve the intensity of the gameplay while minimizing frustrating situations where sudden headshots cause large damage spikes,” said Arrowhead. For instance, enemies like Hulks now have less armor, making them easier to defeat, and other bugs like Hunters and Chargers have been weakened too.
Weapons got a big makeover, so now the autocannon, heavy machine gun, flamethrower, and anti-materiel rifle should pack more punch. Arrowhead wrote, “Although they may not be as effective as specialized anti-tank weapons, they are now more viable choices making your loadouts more versatile, fostering better team collaboration and planning.”
Even Strategems, those powerful tools against tough enemies, are now stronger. Arrowhead’s goal is to keep these tools powerful or even make them better. They’ll keep an eye on how things go and tweak them again in two months based on what players say and their own checks.
We think it’s cool when developers listen to players and make changes based on feedback.
Helldivers 2 became super popular when it came out earlier this year. The mix of funny jokes, thrilling battles, and new stuff to do made it the fastest-selling PlayStation game ever.
