Helldivers 2 was a huge hit in 2024, and fans are curious about Arrowhead Studios’ next move.
Johan Pilestedt, the COO, shared on social media that he’s already brainstorming ideas for their upcoming project. He asked, “What are your expectations and desires for what the next Arrowhead game will be? I am working on the high concept…”
He encouraged folks to guess what they might create next. A fan mentioned a Star Fox-like game, with planes zooming around before an open-world boss fight. Pilestedt liked this idea, saying it fit with an old concept of theirs called “Eagles of Democracy.” He even showed some images of it.
Another suggestion was to remake the classic game Smash TV from 1990. Pilestedt revealed that they had thought about a top-down version of this arcade favorite too.
It’s funny how many game ideas just stay ideas, never becoming real games. That’s the way creativity works sometimes.
We hope Arrowhead’s next game is as exciting as Helldivers 2, which still has more content coming. The latest DLC, a Killzone crossover, wasn’t perfect at first, but Arrowhead listened to fans and made changes.
By November 2024, Helldivers 2 was the third best-selling game of the year, only behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and College Football 25.
