Tango Gameworks has taken on a new identity and name, now known as Tango Gameworks Inc., thanks to its integration into Krafton Inc.’s family.
Earlier this week, a message appeared on X where Tango shared its enthusiasm for this fresh beginning, expressing joy over the opportunity to continue delivering happiness through games worldwide. It’s noteworthy that this was their first post since May 7, 2024, when they had announced their closure due to Microsoft’s decision to shut down several studios, including them and Arkane Austin, creators of Redfall.
But in an unexpected turn of events, Krafton swooped in to rescue Tango in August, even securing the rights to Hi-Fi Rush. Tango, launched in 2010 and famous for The Evil Within series, will see this series remain under Microsoft. Meanwhile, Hi-Fi Rush 2 was in development before Tango’s closure, though it might not see the light of day. Krafton understands this project may not be profitable, yet they’re okay with supporting it if Tango chooses to proceed.
Sometimes, fans just want creators to keep making awesome stuff.
Krafton’s CEO, Changhan Kim, emphasized the importance of nurturing Tango’s creativity and ability to craft new experiences. If you’re curious about their work, you might want to read GameSpot’s review of Hi-Fi Rush, a rhythm-action game that unexpectedly launched in early 2023.
