Hogwarts Legacy 2 Update Connects to Upcoming Show

-

Warner Bros. Games is riding the wave of Hogwarts Legacy’s triumph by planning a follow-up.

After selling over 30 million copies and topping US sales charts in 2023, a sequel to the game is on the horizon. David Haddad, president of WB Games, hinted to Variety that this new game might somehow link with the upcoming Harry Potter TV show. It’s puzzling to imagine how this might happen since the game is set in the 1890s and the series retells the 1990s book storylines.

“Fans are always craving more from this universe,” Haddad mentioned. “We’ve realized that whether young or old, they are all deeply passionate about Harry Potter.” He emphasized that the aim is to create experiences that make these fans happy.

The success of Hogwarts Legacy has reassured the entire company that investing in the Harry Potter universe is wise.

“Everyone at the company was intrigued by the success we achieved with Hogwarts Legacy last year,” he added.

Hogwarts Legacy’s popularity was so immense, it even managed to surpass Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III in US sales during 2023.

In another part of the interview, Robert Oberschelp from Warner Bros. Discovery explained J.K. Rowling’s role in future Harry Potter projects. She won’t be directly involved, but her agent will be informed if anything goes “beyond a canon conversation.” Her controversial views on the trans community still cast a shadow over the franchise.

Besides the sequel, there’s talk of a Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition with extra story content. The original game didn’t have Quidditch, but a separate game, Quidditch Champions, hit the shelves in September.

Back in the early 2000s, the Harry Potter movies were a huge hit, and they tried a spin-off series, Fantastic Beasts. After three films, the series is currently paused. Jude Law, who portrayed young Dumbledore, recently suggested the series might be done.

The TV series is under development for Max, and they’re now looking to cast the iconic trio: Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Sometimes, we just can’t get enough of the magical world.
