Hogwarts Legacy Sequel a Top Warner Bros. Priority

-

Hogwarts Legacy has quickly become a blockbuster for Warner Bros. Discovery’s gaming sector in just a year and a half.

With an impressive 24 million copies sold on various platforms, the game’s success is clear. Even though no official sequel has been announced yet, WBD has hinted strongly at their plans. According to an executive, creating a new game based on the Harry Potter universe is a major priority for them.

“[The video game industry] is, just like the film business, a hit-driven business,” shared WBD CFO Gunnar Weidenfels via The Hollywood Reporter. “Obviously a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple years down the road.”

Weidenfels didn’t give more information about the sequel, but it seems the game won’t be coming anytime soon. The original Hogwarts Legacy, created by Avalanche Software, took players back to a time 100 years before Harry Potter. Gamers loved making their own characters and studying at Hogwarts, which made the action RPG very popular.

Fans often feel torn between enjoying the game and dealing with the controversies surrounding J.K. Rowling’s views.

Similar to the new Harry Potter TV series on HBO, the game has faced backlash due to Rowling’s anti-trans opinions, which she reiterated during the Paris Olympics. Her views have caused friction with many actors from the Harry Potter films and a lot of her fans.
