Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is gearing up to be a major release for Xbox.
Axel Torvenius, chatting with Windows Central, shared that MachineGames is striving for the game to hit 60fps on both Xbox Series X and Series S. He explained their goal is to ensure the game flows well, saying it should “feel cohesive” and maintain smooth visuals at 60fps on both consoles.
He emphasized, “You know, it shouldn’t be compromised in the visuals or the experience of the product.” As they get closer to launch, more technical details might emerge, “once we see all the telemetry on performance,” he mentioned.
Developers often face the challenge of fine-tuning games until the very end, so final performance details might remain uncertain for a bit longer.
Torvenius’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about the performance gap between Series X and Series S. Some developers argue that the Series S’s lower power can be a hindrance. Baldur’s Gate 3 faced delays partly due to issues with the Series S, affecting its Xbox release. Similarly, GSC Game World initially thought bringing Stalker 2 to Series S was “impossible” because of its tech constraints.
Though the Series S initially outsold the Series X in the U.S., that’s changed. As of now, the Series X makes up 51% of all Series X and S sales in the country. Supply issues during the pandemic made the Series S more available from 2020 to 2022, giving it an early sales boost. Yet, Microsoft predicts the Series S will eventually outsell the Series X due to its more affordable price.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to launch on December 9, available on Game Pass, Xbox, and PC. A PS5 version will arrive in Spring 2025.
Interestingly, the game includes a disclaimer stating the developer doesn’t support Nazi ideologies.
Kurt Indovina from GameSpot recently got an early look at the game and compared it to Dishonored. He praised it, saying it captures not just the Indiana Jones vibe, but also the essence of being Indy. It’s looking like a great adventure for fans and the genre alike.
