Naughty Dog has just announced a new game at The Game Awards called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and it’s a huge change from their past work.
In a world far in the future but somehow familiar, we follow Jordan A. Mun, a brave bounty hunter played by Tatiana Gabrielle. She gets a mission to a spooky place named Sempiria, where people have vanished without a trace. Ignoring the spooky tales, she hops into her Porsche spaceship and faces a giant robot. While the trailer didn’t show any actual gameplay, Geoff Keighley mentioned everything we saw was created using the game engine.

In a post shared by Naughty Dog, they revealed that since 2020, they’ve been crafting this exciting story where Jordan tries to escape Sempiria, a feat not achieved in over 600 years. The music is by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and Kumail Nanjiani seems to be part of the cast. It’s kind of thrilling, isn’t it?
Naughty Dog last released The Last of Us Part II in 2020, and they’ve been busy since. HBO turned the first game into a live-action series in 2023, and a second season is coming in 2025. It’ll cover parts of the sequel, with more seasons planned to continue the tale.
They had a multiplayer game, The Last of Us Online, inspired by Factions mode, but it was canceled two years ago. Naughty Dog decided to stick with single-player adventures instead.
