The initial sneak peeks of Prime Video’s Like a Dragon: Yakuza series only showed some wild action scenes.
Ryoma Takeuchi is Kazuma Kiryu, the star of the Yakuza games and now this show. The story bounces between two timelines: 1995 and 2005. Back in ’95, Kazuma, along with his pals Yumi and Miho, make a dumb choice to rob a Dojima crime family’s arcade, thinking they can get away with it. Spoiler alert: they don’t, and Kazuma ends up joining the yakuza.
Jump to 2005, Kazuma is out of jail and trying to leave his old yakuza life behind, but that’s easier said than done. His old buddies aren’t too thrilled to see him, and a masked guy has some plans of his own for the city’s yakuza gangs.
Fans, we can’t wait to see how this unfolds.
Prime Video drops the first three episodes of Like a Dragon: Yakuza on October 24. The rest come out weekly after that. And hey, mark your calendars because the next game, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, hits on February 28, 2025.
