Oh boy, did you hear? After its grand entrance back in December 2022, Riot Games’ new brawler, previously under the mysterious guise of “Project L,” has finally ditched its code name. Yep, the cat’s out of the bag – it’s officially called 2XKO now. And guess what? It’s hitting the shelves in 2025, ready to rock our consoles and PCs.
2XKO ain’t your average fighting game. It’s a 2v2 tag-based smackdown, kinda like Marvel Vs. Capcom, if you’re into that. But here’s the kicker – it features champs from the wildly popular League of Legends. So far, they’ve rolled out the red carpet for seven champions: Ahri, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, Jinx, Katarina, and Yasuo. Talk about an all-star lineup!
Riot’s really putting their heart into this one, working hand-in-hand with the fighting game community. They’re all about giving the FGC a taste, letting them playtest and dish out feedback. Sounds like a solid plan, right?
And get this – Riot’s planning to take 2XKO on a world tour of playable demos in 2024. First stop? Evo Japan in April. They’re also opening the doors for at-home playtesting signups on the game’s official website. They’re aiming to kick things off toward the year’s end.
Here’s the cherry on top – 2XKO will be free-to-play in 2025. We’re talking Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. And the brains behind the operation? Radiant Entertainment, scooped up by Riot after they whipped up Rising Thunder in 2015. Man, 2025 can’t come soon enough!
