In a surprising twist, a trailer for “Mafia: The Old Country” has made its way online, hinting at a release during the sunny days of Summer 2025.
The brief 15-second clip bursts with thrilling scenes of chaos—explosions, rapid gunfire, and intense knife duels, all set against the backdrop of the imaginary city San Celeste, inspired by early 1900s Sicily. Fans might recognize San Celeste from Mafia 2, and this upcoming game acts as a prequel to the original Mafia. To keep it real, the game will have full voiceovers in English, French, German, Spanish, Czech, Russian, and even Sicilian, as seen here.
Back in August, Hangar 13, the brains behind the game, mentioned they’d spill more beans in December. They also
that something exciting about “Mafia: The Old Country” will surface at The Game Awards 2024, likely this very trailer.
When the trailer wraps up, it not only confirms the release window but also the gaming platforms it will grace: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. 2K Games, the publisher, is back in the saddle and is also gearing up to unveil a gameplay trailer for Borderlands 4 at the same event.
Sometimes, fans just can’t wait for more surprises.
This latest addition to the Mafia saga follows 2016’s Mafia 3 and 2020’s Mafia: Definitive Edition. Hangar 13, however, has faced some bumps along the way, like when founder Haden Blackman left, and they had to let some team members go back in 2022.
