Blowing stuff up in Minecraft with TNT is super fun and satisfying.
Crafting TNT in Minecraft
Making TNT is easy, with just two ingredients needed. One is a bit tricky to find, but once you have it, crafting TNT is a breeze. Here’s how you make it:
- On a crafting table, place two Sand blocks in the middle top and bottom boxes, and two more in the middle sides.
- Fill all other spaces with Gunpowder to make one TNT.
Getting Sand is simple. Just head to any water spot, dig around with your tools, and gather what you need. Red Sand works too, so you can use it instead if that’s what you have.
Gunpowder is a bit harder to find. You can’t make it, but you can get it from Creepers. Defeat them before they explode to collect up to five Gunpowder, especially if you’re using a Looting-enchanted weapon. Witches and Ghasts might drop some too, but it’s not guaranteed, so you might need some luck.
You can also find Gunpowder in certain chests located in dungeons, desert temples, shipwrecks, and woodland mansions. This works in both Java and Bedrock versions.
Using TNT in Minecraft
After crafting TNT, setting it off is the next step. Flint and Steel are your best friends for this job. Here’s how you make one:
- Place a Flint piece and an Iron Ingot next to each other on a crafting table.
Flint comes from mining gravel, with a 10% chance of finding it. Use a Fortune-enchanted pickaxe to increase your chances. Village chests might have some Flint as well.
To get Iron Ingots, smelt Iron Ore in a furnace with coal or another heat source.
Once you’ve got Flint and Steel, put your TNT down and use Flint and Steel on it. The TNT will start moving and briefly turn white. After a few seconds, it goes boom, blowing up anything nearby. Be careful not to have anything important close by when you set it off!
Fans love the thrill of explosions in the game!
Besides Flint and Steel, you can also use redstone or lava to activate TNT, but Flint and Steel is the simplest way.
