Amy Hennig shared earlier that her first project at Skydance New Media is a game called Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, featuring Captain America and Black Panther’s grandfather, Azzuri, during World War II.
In an interview with EW, Henning revealed that the game will whisk players away to places like Wakanda and Paris under Nazi control. “Wakanda and Occupied Paris are both key locations,” she explained. The story will explore the secretive Wakanda, which is hidden by a dense jungle. Although Wakanda doesn’t usually get involved in global affairs, something happens that forces them into the fight. It’s like the world is shrinking, but how long can they hide?
There’s also a hint about another super soldier in Paris, though their identity remains a mystery. We do learn about a new character named Julie, a member of the French Resistance. The game has four characters you can play as, including Captain America, Black Panther, Gabriel Jones, and Nanali.
Howard Stark, who is Tony Stark’s dad, will appear in the game too, with Joel Johnstone giving him a voice. Henning didn’t spill the beans on what kicks off the adventure, but she did mention a mysterious “MacGuffin” that gets everyone moving.
Fans love when stories have a twisty plot with a mysterious goal for the characters to chase.
Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra is set to hit the shelves in 2025, but no exact date is out yet.
