Mass Effect fans are buzzing because the TV show is back on track, with Amazon MGM Studios officially working on it, according to a report by Variety.
Even though it’s exciting news that the show is “in development,” it doesn’t mean we’ll see it soon, as this stage can take forever. Remember, the Mass Effect show was first mentioned in 2021, but updates have been as rare as unicorns since then. Daniel Casey, known for Fast & Furious 9, is both writing and executive producing, with EA’s Michael Gamble and Ari Arad also on board as executive producers.
Details about the story are still under wraps, but we know the original series follows Commander Shepard’s adventures in space. There was once talk of a movie, but it never took off. Mac Walters, who used to be with BioWare, once said, “If you’re going to tell a story that’s as fleshed out as Mass Effect, TV is the way to do it. There’s a natural way it fits well with episodic content.”
Fans think it’s a good idea to make it into a TV show because it allows more time for the story to grow.
If this Mass Effect series really happens, it might show up on Prime Video, like the Fallout series. However, nothing is set in stone. While Prime Video is also starting fresh with a God of War show, Fallout is already gearing up for its second season.
Today is November 7, also known as N7 Day in the Mass Effect world. Normally, we get teasers for a new game, but this year there’s nothing. BioWare is more focused on the new Mass Effect game after releasing Dragon Age: The Veilguard in October.
