Metaphor: ReFantazio introduces a cool system where you can change your team roles, called Archetypes, letting you switch your team members’ roles as much as you want.
Mage with Seeker, Healer, or Mage
The Mage is super strong at the start because it can use fire, ice, and electric attacks. These attacks are great for beating different kinds of enemies, but they only hit one enemy at a time. If you want to attack all enemies at once, you need to have another Mage, a Seeker, or a Healer with you to use the special Synthesis ability. Out of these, having a Healer is best because they can use a light attack that hits all enemies when a Mage is nearby.
Knight with back row damage dealers
Knights are awesome since they can be a strong shield for your team. They protect your weaker teammates like Mages, Gunners, Healers, or Summoners by keeping the enemies busy. Even if their own attacks aren’t great against the enemies, just focusing on defense helps your team survive tough fights.
Summoner and Masked Dancer
Combining a Summoner and a Masked Dancer is really powerful. The Masked Dancer can make enemies weak to specific elements, and the Summoner can attack with lots of different elemental moves. This means you can make all enemies vulnerable to, say, ice, and then hit them hard with an ice attack that affects everyone. Make sure you have the right Vessels and Masks to use this combo effectively, and craft them at Akademia when you have the materials.
Gunner with Gunner, Faker, or Summoner
When you need to tackle dungeons full of monsters weak to Pierce damage, the Gunner is the best choice. If you have another Gunner, a Faker, or a Summoner, you can use the Wild Barrage Synthesis ability, which hits all enemies multiple times with Pierce damage.
Berserker with Knight
The Berserker can deal huge damage with two Strike abilities when paired with a Knight. The abilities, Wanton Destruction and Battlecry Tackle, are both super strong. Wanton Destruction is especially good because it hits hard and makes enemies weak to Strike, so you can keep using it without losing turns, which is super helpful against tough enemies.
Trickster
The Trickster, which is an advanced version of the Faker, can unleash a powerful Almighty attack without using MP. Almighty damage is special because enemies can’t resist it, though they aren’t weak to it either. This makes it a great option for foes without weaknesses. To pull off this move, you need two allies with the right Archetypes: one should be a Knight, Healer, or Commander, and the other should be a Thief, Faker, or Merchant.
Sometimes, we just love trying new strategies to see what works best!
Brawler, Merchant, Healer
Using a Brawler, Merchant, and Healer together gives you access to some strong Almighty and light attacks. The Merchant’s Almighty attacks cost money instead of MP, which might be a good trade-off late in the game. The powerful light attacks are also useful because there aren’t many high-damage light options available.
Whatever the information says
In most dungeons, both main and side ones, you can buy info about the monsters from someone who knows. This info tells you what the monsters are weak against, and it also adds a recommended Archetypes section to your request list. These suggestions are usually spot-on since they focus on a couple of Archetypes, not a full team, helping you cover most enemy weaknesses and giving you a great starting point for your party setup.
