In just a few months, playing Minecraft with VR headsets will no longer be possible.
Mojang has announced that they will stop supporting VR and mixed-reality devices by March 2025, according to the latest Minecraft: Bedrock Edition changelog. The update states, “Our ability to support VR/MR devices has come to an end and will no longer be supported in updates after March of 2025, when you will receive your final update.” After that, your VR adventures in Minecraft will cease, although your worlds and purchases will still function on regular PCs.
Minecraft’s journey with VR began back in 2016 when it teamed up with Oculus, and later in 2020, it added PlayStation VR support with two modes: immersive and living room. Nearly a decade of VR fun!
Though VR is taking a bow, Minecraft has introduced a native PS5 version with stunning 4K visuals at 60fps. This update is part of the Bundles of Bravery, which also brings a new Hardcore difficulty mode to challenge players.
The Meta Quest 3S VR headset has just hit the market this month, offering a bundle with Batman: Arkham Shadow. Fans love the thrill of trying out new VR games, don’t we?
