Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s highly anticipated reveal event is set to take place inside Call of Duty: Warzone on August 17, and Activision has now divulged more details about what fans can expect during this event.

Quick Facts

  • Double XP in Warzone starts on August 17 at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET, just before the Shadow Siege event at 10:30 AM PT / 1:30 PM ET
  • Players will join Shadow Company, fight against Konni forces, and secure chemical weapons during the event
  • Most purchases, Operators, and weapon levels will carry forward to Modern Warfare III when it launches on November 10

The Warzone event–Shadow Siege–will kick off with double XP starting at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET, just before the event begins at 10:30 AM PT / 1:30 PM ET. While Activision is keeping specific details about the event under wraps, the developer has shared a message from the fictional Commander Phillip Graves from Modern Warfare II to provide some context: “This is an airborne to ground assault of the Konni-occupied Zaya Observatory.”

During the event, participants will join Shadow Company to battle against the Konni forces and secure chemical weapons “before it’s too late.” There will be “numerous rewards” up for grabs, including a new base weapon that will be available in Warzone and Modern Warfare II right away.

In related news, Activision has confirmed that the majority of players’ purchases, Operators, and weapon levels will transfer to Modern Warfare III when it is released on November 10. It is worth noting that Microsoft is currently in the process of attempting to acquire Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty franchise, but the deal has not been finalized yet. Regardless of the outcome, Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation for at least the next decade.
