Capcom has spilled the beans about how Monster Hunter Wilds will run on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and there’s a surprise patch for PS5 Pro right on launch day.
In a recent video update for fans, Capcom shared some slides explaining how the game performs on consoles. Both PS5 and Xbox Series X give similar output resolutions, yet they differ in rendering. If you focus on graphics, you’ll see an output of 3840×2160 with rendering at 3072×1728. But if you’re all about that silky smooth frame rate, it keeps the output at 3840×2160 while rendering dips to 1920×1080. Graphics mode goes for 30fps; frame rate mode shoots for 60fps. Confusing? Maybe a bit, but hey, options are good!
For Series S, things are simpler. It sticks to one mode, aiming for 1920×1080 at 30fps. As for the PS5 Pro patch, Capcom’s keeping details under wraps until launch time. Meanwhile, the team is working on reducing the GPU specs for PCs and might release a benchmark tool to help players check if their computers can handle the game.
Fans wonder if Monster Hunter Wilds will have the same hiccups as Dragon’s Dogma 2 did on PC, but Capcom hasn’t said anything to make us worry yet.
Mark your calendars, folks! Monster Hunter Wilds drops on February 28, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
