In the world of video games, more players are becoming afraid of spiders.
Earlier this year, BioWare made a big change by removing spiders from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, even though they were in the earlier games. Now, Monster Hunter Wilds is also adding a feature that lets players swap out spiders for something else. When the Monster Hunter Wilds beta came out, some eagle-eyed gamers found an Arachnophobia Assistance feature. This mode lets players replace spiders, including the huge ones that are tough bosses, with other creatures once the feature is turned on.
Yet, swapping spiders doesn’t mean the battles get any easier. Those regular spiders turn into gooey blob creatures that are just as tough to beat. We wonder how fans feel about facing different monsters instead of creepy-crawly spiders.
Not every gamer is scared of spiders; some might even like fighting these eight-legged critters. But for others, those hairy legs and many eyes might be too much to handle. So, players can choose whether to face their fears or make the spiders vanish with a quick setting change.
Mark your calendars for February 28, 2025, when Monster Hunter Wilds hits Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Lucky PS Plus members can try the beta early, and everyone else on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S can join in on October 31. The beta will wrap up on November 3.
