Monster Hunter Wilds, the new game in the Monster Hunter series, isn’t coming out until next year.
GameSpot got an early look at the game during Gamescom, and Jean-Luc Seipke shared their experience in a video overview. There’s a lot of cool stuff for fans to get excited about. First off, Monster Hunter Wilds offers a much larger map to explore compared to previous games. This time, the campsite is directly linked to the map, making it easier for players to feel connected during four-player co-op hunts. Plus, you can choose secondary weapons that change up how you fight.
The game also introduces a new focus mode for combat, giving players better control of their weapons. When activated, weak spots on monsters glow red, showing players where to hit to take down creatures faster. This also helps teammates coordinate their attacks.
In the demo, lightning storms would signal the arrival of lightning dragons. Seipke couldn’t defeat them, and the storms made it hard to see. Also, instead of using a quest board like before, players can now pick their hunts more naturally.
We think it’s going to be fun because it sounds awesome!
There were some bugs in the demo such as lagging frame rates and occasional crashes. But that’s normal for unfinished games. We believe these issues will be fixed by the time it’s released in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Despite these problems, the rest of the experience was really enjoyable.
